I travel with my dog and always appreciate a location that not only caters for us but also appreciates us. We were given a key to a room but swapped last minute. This was an upgrade to the garden room, myself and my boy Magnus were so grateful. We made the most of the garden and the varanda. The bed I found comfortable, the bathroom was huge with a powerful shower and the room had a mini fridge I found useful. Staff were super friendly, they came round to knock to see if I needed anymore tea or coffee. I added an extra night, no bother at all. Some may say the decor is outdated, I say it's a piece of tourism history. I was more than happy, it's a beautiful building. The price was budget, the room size was not. Plenty of free parking too. I did get the last space on one of my nights stay, so maybe slightly challenging at busier times. Without a doubt we will be back. Keep your expectations real and you should find your content enough. We certainly were.

On arriival, I was greeted by a person with a welcoming smile. After I'd checked in, I was helped with my luggage to my room. I had a free upgrade to a large room at the top of the house. The room was very characterful, with a big window facing a lovely garden. The window was opened, for me, and remained that way for the rest of my stay. There was a hospitality-tray, with nice tea-bags and a pretty tea-pot. The ensuite bathroom contained a nice, big, enamelled cast-iron bath-tub as well as a toilet and hand-sink. There was plenty of hot water. The hotel-building was old and extremely characterful, with many of the very charming features still in place, The breakfast-room was beautiful and the cooked, vegetarian breakfast was generous and good !

As I rang the door bell the owner opened the door with a welcome back smile. The smell of French cuisine coming from the kitchen was like a support blanket. I haven't been there for a few months, after a chat I went to my room. Room 2 is a single and once I unpacked and made a coffee and just relaxed listening to radio 2. A few hours later I had a shower and went out for dinner. Got back early and slept until 7.30. The breakfast was more than I have at home. I only stayed 2 nights at the BALMORAL LODGE HOTEL but I always feel sad when I leave. See you all soon.

Arrived earlier that usual . The welcome was friendly , t have been, coming to the BALMORAL LODGE HOTEL SOUTHPORT for many years . I was very impressed the with my breakfast the bacon was as thick as a pork chop . I will be heading back home tomorrow . I come to Southport to visit a friend who has a few health issues . So coming back to the hotel and relaxing in my room with the radio in the background. Last night I slept 9 hours and ordered a Chinese take away . I would like to give a THUMBS UP.

We were a party of 9 cyclists. We were received most warmly by our French hosts who encouraged us to put our bikes in the bar, which is (sadly) closed in the evening. We had 6 rooms, all good. The garden rooms were particularly useful, for example, for the couple with a dog. Our double room also had built in childrens bunks. Other rooms also had extra beds for kids. Worth bearing in mind if planning a holiday with several families. Breakfast was very good with plenty of individual options.
